MATH 2700 homework

Spring 2012

These are homework problems for MATH 2700. Although I will try to keep them up to date, class announcements will give definitive information. The problems are from the text, Differential Equations (4th ed.) by Blanchard, Devaney and Hall.

The date listed is the date the homework was assigned.

Note on equilibrium points: a sink is stable, a source is unstable, a node is semistable.

2/9/12 Assignment 5: This week there is no WebWork assignment. The assigned problems are from the text:

2/21/12 Assignment 6: WebWork Assignment 5 is now available. It is due Wednesday 2/29. On Thursday 2/22 we will finish going over the material you need for this assignment.

Note: We did not cover the questions on "What kind of interaction" in Problems 3 and 4, so I will just tell you the answers to that part of the problem: Problem 3 is "Symbiosis", Problem 4 is "Predator-Prey".

4/19/12 Assignment 11: WebWork Assignment 7 is now available. It is due next Friday 4/27/12.

Note: I will have office hours 4:30-6 on Monday. If you are taking Test 3, feel free to come by to discuss the material. Material from 3.6, 6.1 and 6.3 will be on Test 3 (material from 6.1 and 6.3 is on the Webwork problem set, with the exception of Problem 8).

The remaining text problems cover material from Section 3.6 and from Chapter 6. This material will be covered on the final. The material from 3.6, 6.1 and 6.3 will be on the optional Test 3. Material from 6.2 will be covered in class on Tuesday. If we cover any other material on Tuesday I will add some problems here so please check after class on Tuesday!
